Whenever I have free time with my husband, we like going out spending time by doing activities together such as hiking in the canyon.
A Wonderful Summer Weekend
I had a wonderful weekend with my husband. We went to a popular recreational area in Millcreek Canyon. Millcreek Canyon is a beautiful mountain canyon in the Wasatch Mountains and part of Millcreek City on the east side of the Salt Lake Valley, Utah. Actually, this canyon is great for outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, walking, trails, skiing, and mountain biking. If you are an enthusiastic outdoor-activity fan, this place is perfect for your adventurous!
Ready For Adventure
We woke up in the morning feeling all excited for our adventure of the day. We decided to bring firewood and other essential tools so we can make coffee and cook breakfast. Of course, we went to a picnic area where we were allowed to set up the fire in a place. A great tip if you are looking for a spot for a picnic or camping; please make sure you are in a permitted area. For example, in Millcreek, there are reservable group picnic sites available as well as several non-reservable picnic tables throughout the canyon.
When we got there, the first thing we did was to find a perfect area so we can set up the fire. Though it was summer, the air was chilly and windy in the morning. Luckily, I have a sweater on me. I was reluctant to wear one in the beginning but, my husband was right! It was cold up there. My husband chopped some firewoods and started up the fire in the fire ring to help us feel a little warmer.
In the meantime, I was ready to cook up some scrambled eggs on a grill we brought with us. I also put on a kettle to boil the water to make us a coffee. It was very nice to smell the fire burns. It reminds me of my hometown. After everything was ready, we sat up and eating the warm breakfast while enjoying listening to the morning sounds. It was very peaceful. I love the moment like this where you were far away from the hectic of the city.
Hiking Up Along the Trails
After we finished eating, we cleaned up the area. We make sure we tidy things up, put all the trash in the bag. My husband also shifts off the fire by pouring water in the fire ring. We took up all our stuff to the car before started to hike up along the trails. Millcreek Canyon has a variety of trails for hiking. While we were hiking, we stopped by taking some pictures surrounding the area. My husband said, there is a mountain lion inhabited in the area, but luckily we didn't encounter it.
Great Time in Canyon
After spending several hours at the canyon, it's time to go home. I had a great time viewing the beautiful sight of the canyon. The trees, the creek, the sound of peacefulness, the specks of dirt that stuck to my shoes, everything was perfect! Next, I'm ready for fall. The canyon will be full of beautiful colorful trees. I cannot wait to come again. I feel very welcome here.
Note: There is a $3.00 fee per vehicle is paid upon leaving Millcreek Canyon.

Two weeks ago, we went to Millcreek Canyon to have our outdoor breakfast again. It has been like our annual event where we will cook outdoor breakfast while enjoying nature. It was amazing.
I'm glad to hear that you have been to Utah and visited the astonishing national parks they have here. Yes, I agree. Utah has some breath-taking and extraordinary places for exploration :) I am grateful to live here. Thank you for taking the time to read, Peggy.

Your morning breakfast and hike into Millcreek Canyon sounds delightful! Many years ago, my mother, niece, and I had a fabulous vacation in Utah. We flew to Salt Lake City, rented a car, and then proceeded to visit all of the national parks as well as some of the state parks. Utah is such a scenic state! You are fortunate to be living there.
