My husband and I love exploring new places. Currently, we reside in Utah. Someday, we would like to travel all across the United States.

Where Is Park City?

My husband and I decided to start our new year's weekend gateway in Park City, Utah. Park City lies east of Salt Lake City in the western state of Utah. It is where Utah Olympic Park is situated, and it was a venue of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Besides that, Park City is home to Park City Mountain Resort, Canyons Village at Park City, Deer Valley Resort, the Park City Museum, Main Street shopping and dining, and hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails.

Besides being known for ski and snowboarding lovers, Park City is the main location of the United States' largest independent film festival, the Sundance Film Festival. It is an annual film festival organized by the Sundance Institute. In 2016, more than 46,660 attending the event marked it as the largest independent film festival in the United States.

This year, the festival is supposed to be started on January 20th. However, two weeks before it was held, The Sundance Film has canceled its in-person event and reverting to an entirely virtual edition due to the current coronavirus surge.

Historical Main Street Attractions

Once the basecamp of a silver mining town, Park City's Main Street has come to represent the heart and soul of one of the most popular mountain towns in the west.

The air outside was cold as we were walked along the Historical Main Street in Park City. We decided to stop by at the Park City Museum. We were pleasantly surprised. There is plenty of historical information on the history of Park City, including mining, skiing, and tourism. By the way, the Museum Store has long been recognized as a wonderful source for unique gifts and books relating to the history and culture of Park City. By the way, visitors, for example, can enjoy a wide variety of handmade jewelry, children's games, postcards, gemstones, and other souvenirs.

We didn't leave empty-handed as we picked beautiful and colorful gemstones and a vintage postcard collection.

Pink Elephant Coffee

Park City offers many local shops, galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and coffee shops! As I mentioned earlier, one of our mission is to find a coffee shop called Pink Elephant Coffee. We were super excited as we arrived at the entrance of the coffee shop.

It is located on the second floor of a shop, so you must pay attention, and watch for the sign. I was lost for a little because as soon as you entered, there is a clothing store. As we walked in the stairs led us to a second floor. We were surprised how tiny but, a quaint coffee counter there was. When we got to the counter, only one person was working at the time. Therefore, please be patient before he started taking your order. My husband and I ordered our favorite coffee beverages. It is one of the best coffee we have ever tasted in Park City!

Photography and Art

If you are an art and photography lover, you would love to be here. One of the many attractions on Main Street is the art gallery. We stopped at David Beavis Fine Art gallery and we were blown away with the photographs inside. The gallery holds some of his famous works. How I wish to take photos but, my husband said advised me to not take any photos. A man who works inside was very friendly and pleasant. He asked if we were familiar with David Beavis's works. We said no. He explained to us a few of his works. Before we left, we purchased five cards that featured David Beavis' work.

Wonderful Hotel Stay

For this quick weekend trip, we have stayed at a very strategic hotel location. Located in Kimball Junction within a mile of Canyons Resort, AC Hotel by Marriott Park City is within a few miles of other major sights such as Utah Olympic Park. This 100-room, the 3-star hotel has an indoor pool along with free in-room Wi-Fi and free self-parking.

We booked one room with a king-size bed. The room is suited for two people. The room features included a coffee maker, a safe, and a phone. Guests can expect a television with satellite channels, along with free Wi-Fi and wired Internet. Nowadays, most hotels let you sign in to your streaming tv account such as Netflix throughout your stay. The bed is comfy and the bathroom offers a rainfall shower, hairdryer, and designer toiletries. Ironing boards and desks are other standard amenities. We have had no complaints throughout our stay at the hotel.
