Lost Creek Park: Inviting Recreation Area in Sugar Land, Texas
Accidental Park Discovery!
Our discovery of Lost Creek Park happened by accident. We had just spent some glorious hours in Oyster Creek Park, our destination for the day in Sugar Land.
We had already walked along the paved asphalt trail to the right of the spectacular water feature that follows Oyster Creek. It was a one-way trail. After returning via the same pathway, we circled a grassy area of that park. We found a path that continued in another direction.
Little did we realize that we would be entering another park, but that is what happened. We saw the trail marker signs and later realized that those signs also indicated the two different parks—not simply the trail name.

Mile Markers and Signs
There are mile markers posted along the trail. Most of the path takes one through natural areas where abundant wildlife lives. We saw several turtles lined up on a fallen log in the water. We also spotted many birds. While on the bridge, we could see fish swimming in the creek.
We did not see any alligators, such as the one we spotted in the other interconnected park along the trail. However, posted signs warn of their existence in the park.

View Opens Up
After walking through a relatively wild area, we discovered people playing in soccer fields and on playground structures. We finally realized that we had found the 21 acres of Lost Creek Park from the back end via the interconnecting trail to the other park we had just visited.

Amenities within Lost Creek Park include the following:

- There is a covered picnic pavilion with a concession stand.
- A meeting room can accommodate up to 40 people.
- Restrooms
- A large paved parking lot
- A pump track
Many people were taking advantage of picnicking in the park. They were also using the playground and soccer fields on the day of our visit.

“You can’t tell a kid that it’s time to exercise; that’s a turn off…you have to say, “Let’s go to the park and have some fun! Then you get them to do some running, play on the swings, practice on the balance beam, and basically get a full workout disguised as play.”
— Arnold Schwarzenegger
Pump Track
People can see a pump track from the large parking lot accommodating up to 300 vehicles. It was not in use on the day of our visit.
For those unfamiliar, this is a specially created dirt track with hills and curves created for bicycle enthusiasts who like to do stunts with their bikes. Bicycles are designed especially for this sport.
It would have been fun to watch kids actively using this track, but you can get an idea of what it is like, by watching the video below.
Location
For hikers and bikers, the fact that Lost Creek Park interconnects with another park is simply a bonus. More and more of our Houston metro parks have interconnecting trails. This interlinking of those parks is a current trend.
We did more hiking than planned that day but were pleased that we now knew more about two Sugar Land parks instead of just one. Both of the parks offer excellent features for people to use who live in the area.
Lost Creek Park is open from 7 A.M. to 10 P.M. You can locate this park at 3703 Lost Creek Blvd., Sugar Land, Texas 77478.
