Looking to beat the heat, and do something exciting?!? Look no farther than the beautiful blue shores of mesmerizing Lake Tahoe. The majestic mountains ringing around the tranquil crystal clear lake make this an unbearably exquisite location to come soak up the sights. With everything from hiking to boating to casinos, this place offers something for everyone. There are so many amazing activities to choose from here, so today we are just going to focus on water and beach activities. Whether you are planning a day trip to the area or plan on staying for a while, this will give you some ideas of fun things to do on the water, and where to go for them.
Zephyr Cove Beach
This beach has got it all! It has volleyball, boat rentals, cruises, and views galore! Zephyr Cove is definitely a hub for all things fun on the water in Lake Tahoe. Also, if you have fur babies tagging along, there is a dog friendly area, and parking for all these fun activities is only eight dollars. Starting with the beach area, enough can not be said about how great it is. The sand is so soft under your feet, and the blue water is the clearest water I have ever seen. You can choose to play volleyball, swim with your dog, rent a paddle board, or if relaxing is more your thing, then lay back and let the sun warm you as you drink in the sight of the mountains towering around you.
Boat and Water Toy Rentals at Zephyr Cove
In my opinion, there is no better way to spend your day than on the water. If you are up for practicing your paddle boarding skills, simply feel the need for speed, or are just not a fan of lounging around, then Zephyr Cove has what you are looking for. They offer a variety of rentals right on the beach, including stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, jet skis, power boats, and even things like water skis and ski tubes. Zephyr Cove is a perfect location to base your beach day because you never even have to leave the beach to get to all of the fun things to do. You can rent either a one or two person kayak from $25-$40, a three person canoe for $30, a stand-up paddle board for $30, a jet ski for $120/hour, or a power boat from $185-$205/hour. Any of these options will provide for wonderful memories for years to come!
Parasailing and Fishing Trips
If you are in the mood for something different from your every day beach activities, then you can sign up for parasailing and fishing trips right from Zephyr Cove! Parasailing in Lake Tahoe is out of this world. Cruising around the alpine water, flying through the sky surrounded by mountains, and possibly getting dipped in the cool lake, makes for an amazing experience that should not be passed up. The price for a single rider is $79, double is $145, and triple is $175.
As far as the fishing trips go, who wouldn't want to go out on the water for a nice relaxing time on this lovely lake? You are taken out to the best fishing spots for either part of the day or the whole day, and your equipment is all given to you by them. Just don't forget your fishing license!
Daytime Cruises and Sunset Dinner Cruises
Cruising around Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite things to do. Besides taking in all of the breathtaking scenery, it is nice to get to explore more areas of the lake than you might otherwise get to. The 2.5 hour daytime cruise takes you all the way to the gorgeous Emerald Bay, where you can see Vikingsholm, and then back again. The price is $55 for adults and $20 for children.
The absolute best way to end your day on the water in Lake Tahoe is with a sunset dinner cruise, aboard a paddle wheel boat. It really doesn't get more fun than that! At first you are greeted with a glass of champagne and a delicious dinner to follow. Afterward, feel free to walk the decks as you glide around the serene lake and take in the mountains and water at sunset. It is absolutely divine. The live music is another great part about the dinner cruise, which just adds to the fun. The whole experience makes this the perfect ending to a perfect day on the water in Lake Tahoe.
