A Day At Disneyland With A 6 Month Old Baby

A Day At Disneyland With A 6 Month Old Baby!

I was so excited when my friend told me that they were going to Disneyland and wanted me to come along! Her baby had just turned six months old (and gets in for free!) and me being his honorary aunt bought him a bunch of Disney clothes for her baby shower! I was super excited to tag along and be the photographer for the day! We decided to be at the park as close to opening as possible! Baby Tyler was all smiles and we all were super excited! We also were very lucky to have such beautiful weather. I didn't really know how the day was going to go because I have no children of my own and the only other time I had been at Disneyland with a young child was with my niece who was 1 going on two at the time.

Have you ever gone to Disneyland with a baby?

As soon as we were in the park we figured out what rides we were going to try to figure out what characters we wanted to introduce baby Tyler to! We also had to take pictures in front of the flower Mickey and well practically every where! Before we did anything we fed baby Ty a bottle in Main Street and he loved the music playing through the speakers! He was happily sitting there kicking his legs away! We took it as a good sign that he was in such a good happy mood.

Astro Blasters

The first ride we went on was Astro Blasters! Tyler seemed to like the line with all of the noises, the bright colors, and the big talking Buzz and Ethch-a-sketch. He even seemed to like the laser guns and the number in the cars but overall this ride did not go over well with him. It was dark and loud inside and he was scared. It also was too long for him and was crying when we got off.

Winnie the Pooh

Next we walked over to Winnie the Pooh! We were going to do Pirates next but because of Buzz we figured another dark ride with cannons was not a good idea. Tyler seemed to love Winnie the Pooh but was unsure about the movement of the honeycomb we rode in. Overall I say this ride was a good one for him! He loved the music and the outside line too.

Pooh and Friends Meet and Greet

The best part about the Winnie the Pooh ride is that as soon as you exit the ride you can go straight over to the line where you meet the characters from the Hundred Acre Woods! Which is exactly what we did. Tyler loved, LOVED meeting all the characters and was all smiles and laughs! We got some great pictures of him and he was sad to leave them.

Jungle Cruise

Our next stop was the World famous Jungle Cruise! This ride was not a hit with Tyler. The sound of the engine was too loud and he seemed really frightened. He also hated the part where the skipper shoots his gun to scare off the hippos. Even with his ears covered he was not a happy boy. He did like the animals and the water but I don't think that it overweighed the noises enough to say that he liked this ride.

Jasmine and Aladdin Meet and Greet

As soon as you exit the Jungle Cruise (on most days) Jasmine and Aladdin are outside the Oasis ready to meet every one! They thought that "Prince Tyler" was adorable and assured us that Abu would love to play with him if he wasn't stuck in Agrabah! Seeing these two put Tyler back in a good mood after being so scared. They both were so sweet!

Dumbo

We then headed over to Fantasyland! First up was Dumbo! Even though the line was long it seemed to move pretty quick. Tyler seemed to like flying through the air with a feather in his cap! Actually we all enjoyed this ride! Taking pictures I felt like I was in one of those Disney commercials where everyone is happy and flying Dumbo. It was a very cool moment for me!

King Arthur's Carousel

Since all the other rides in Fantasyland were either dark (Peter Pan/Alice In Wonderland) or probably too scary (Snow White/Pinnochio) we decided that the Carousel was the best bet for baby Tyler to have fun! We were right. He loved the Carousel and was super happy the whole time! It was so much fun seeing the smile and excitement on his face.

Minnie Mouse Meet and Greet

Back in Main Street (after some lunch, a diaper change, and a parade) we decided to go meet some classic Disney characters! Tyler loved meeting Minnie Mouse and was a huge flirt with her! So adorable!

Pluto Meet and Greet

The last character of the day was Pluto. Tyler had so much fun playing with him and I think Pluto had just as much fun! I got so many great pictures and the one below is my favorite of them all! He loved touching his nose!

The Shot of the Day

So out of all the pictures taken that day, according to my friend, the picture below was what the whole day was for! This is hers and my favorite! It made me so ecstatic that the picture that made the whole day worth it was the picture where I am holding baby Tyler! This was taken in Fantasyland outside of the Mad Hatter. He had just got his ears and was having so much fun watching the tea cups!

A Few Tips!

  • Every child is different so just because baby Tyler didn't like some rides doesn't mean that your child won't like them either!
  • It is best to take some breaks between walking and rides for baby and parents!
  • If you need anything (microwave, toddler toilets, baby food, a place to breast feed, or a crib) go to the Mother's Room off of Main Street by the corn dog cart. They have everything you could possibly need!
  • Take as many pictures as possible! There is no such thing as too many.
  • Don't be afraid of over packing! You can stuff everything into the stroller and when you are on rides there are places to park it and trust me no one takes anything! Disneyland has lots of security (even hidden undercover security) which means your stuff will be safe!
  • Bring a pacifier holder! This is a life saver. Trust me you don't want to loose your baby's pacifier at Disneyland or worse have it drop on the floor and be covered in grossness.

Some Final Thoughts

I know that a lot of people think that it is a waste to bring a 6 month old to Disneyland but after experiencing it I think that it is worth it! We all had a great time together and sure there were rides and moments in the park that didn't work out as well but over all making memories is what it is all about! Even if they are not so good memories you can one day look back and laugh!

Voted adorable. I can't imagine going to Disneyland with a baby or tiny tot but if you're fearless and have one of the little boogers, go for it!

      Hi Flourishanyway!

I agree! It took the three of us to take care of the little guy but in a lot of ways it was worth it because it is the parents memories that were important that day! Regardless I had fun tagging along! Thanks for commenting!

This was VERY helpful! We are leaving for Disneyland in a few hours, only take us about 6 hours. We are taking our 2 year old and or our 6 month old boys. I have never been and of course neither have they, daddy has been though. Since it's fall break for daddy we thought we would go while we live so close. I just wanted to make sure that their "any age" rides really were ANY AGE.

Hi Lyndsay just came across this posting and it was so helpful! We are heading to Disney world with a 6 month old and I was fearing the worst. How did you handle mealtimes? My understanding is that restaurants don't allow strollers so I'm not sure how we are going to tackle the issue.

      Hi sue!

Most of the time we went to outdoor places like jolly holiday bakery where strollers are allowed. We also mostly snacked in line. I'm not sure about Walt Disney World but I'm sure you can call guest services and ask them which places allow strollers.

      Hello Yvette!

I would recommend going on slow steady rides and rides that won't scare her. Most rides will be off limit due to how they are set up. If you want to take her then by all means do it! I think the best part taking your baby to the parks are the pictures you get from it. =)
