I was totally non-weight bearing for four months. Then, I could start trying to put weight on that heel. It was scary! I was living in Europe at the time and had only instructions from a physical therapist in the States to guide me as I started gradually walking on my own again. My ankle still doesn't work well. Before I fell, I was a runner. I've never been able to run again, and even walking can be a struggle. It's okay while I'm doing it but as soon as I stop, I start limping again. The heel is a bad bone to break.
