I am traveling to Venice with my daughter in a couple of weeks, it will be the first solo trip without the family! We have already decided to get a water taxi back from our hotel. We will be getting Vaparetto tickets during the two full days we are there. I really like the idea of getting the train, but I am worried this could be complicated! Is it easy enough to work out once you are at the airport? Do the Vaparetto go from the airport to Venice or just the Alilaguna?
The Vaporetto does not provide service to/from the airport, just Alilaguna. Taking the train into Venice if you are coming into Marco Polo is not practical. The airport does not have train service so you would have to take a taxi or bus to the train station, then take the train into Venice, then take the Vaporetto. I think you are better off taking either the bus or a taxi from the airport to Piazzale Roma, and then the Vaporetto to the terminal that is closest to your hotel.
