Number One 'Tourist Trap' in Verona, Italy Is a Total Must-Stop

Whether you're exploring Italy with a tour group or solo, there is just so much to do and enjoy. From rich history and art, to the rolling hills and vineyards, to the many magnificent coastal towns, it's nearly impossible to see it all! One thing visitors will quickly realize is just how crowded those well-beloved cities get, especially during the heights of tourist season and the heat of summer.

Along with the fabulous pizza, pasta, and wines, there is one particular "must see" attraction that is visited by millions of people each year. TikTok user @sam.mayfair shares his video of this famous stop in Verona, Italy.

No visit to Verona, Italy is complete without visiting Casa di Giulietta. This is the legendary home of William Shakespeare's young heroine. Shakespeare’s famous play, Romeo and Juliet may be a work of fiction, but that hasn’t stopped hundreds of thousands of romantics from making pilgrimage to Verona to see the balcony where Juliet supposedly stood while Romeo declared his love. (And if you're a Netflix fan, you might recognize it from the recent movie, Love in the Villa.)

Sure, this is a tourist trap, but so are many other places in the world. A purchased ticket will gain you entry to stand on the famous balcony and a walk through of a mostly empty house, with the exception of a bed and a few outfits on display. TikTok user @burger.qu33n comments, Romeo and Juliet were real people? I thought it was just Shakespeare’s play? Another comment by @hannah_06_x explained, "We went while on our honeymoon, and you can post a letter to Juliet in the box, too. Touristy but still nice to visit." Viewer @aaron_j1986 states, "Well, luckily, I see it on here now, so I never need to worry about going there."

Today, the Casa di Giulietta still remains one of the most visited monuments in Italy. Love awaits you in Verona if you're willing to make the trip.
