United Airlines Cancels Bride's Flight to Her Own Wedding

This is a worst case scenario situation.

There's never really a convenient time for a flight delay, but there are certainly less inconvenient times than others. If you're traveling somewhere but don't need to be there by a certain time, it's definitely less stressful to find out that your flight as been canceled than it would be if you were trying to make it to a certain event and didn't have much breathing room around your arrival time. Certain big days of our lives require everything to run smoothly, and when the schedule deviates, disaster strikes.

But it's hard to imagine anyone being more stressed out than a bride who found out her flight to her own wedding got canceled, and one woman is sharing how it happened to her recently.

On Wednesday, January 10, @officialemmadegs took to TikTok to share what happened when United Airlines canceled her flight to Florida, where she was getting married.

"We are flying to our wedding tomorrow morning and United just told us that our flight was canceled," she says in the video.

The airline offered them three flights they could take instead, which she said were "not ideal," especially since they wouldn't even be sitting next to each other. But they needed to get there, so they selected a new flight... only to find out that they would have to fly standby, so there's no guarantee they'd actually get on the plane.

"When people told me that things are gonna go wrong the week of your wedding, this was not — I thought, like, the florist would forget and we wouldn't have flowers at our wedding. Things I could manage. Not that we wouldn't get to our wedding," she said.

Later, she shared that the flight had been canceled because it was one of the planes that had been recalled after the Alaska Airlines incident where a fuselage plug blew off during the flight. Oof.

Happily Ever After

Fortunately, this was not one of those situations where we were left hanging — she did return and let us know how things worked out! And also fortunately, we have a happy ending to celebrate.

They did end up making it to Florida in time by snagging a last minute flight with American Airlines, and they'll be getting married as planned — though she did have to deal with some rude comments in the process.

Knowing how stressed I was right before my wedding, a canceled flight like this would have been my last straw. Props to this bride for how well she handled the situation. It's great to see that everything worked out for her and her new husband!
