Tourists' DIY Evacuation From Disneyland's Space Mountain Ride Is a Mess

Guess they got sick of waiting.

The classic Space Mountain ride has long been a staple of both Disneyland and Disney World, but like any attraction, it's prone to occasional breakdowns. Most riders stuck on a broken-down Space Mountain just wait patiently for the ride to start again- but three riders in Disneyland decided not to wait it out.

RV life vlogger @heartandsaultravel was enjoying a ride on Disneyland's Space Mountain when the ride experienced a brief shutdown. It didn't take very long for the passengers in the next car up to bail in a DIY evacuation!

Wowww... just, wow. This is like ten bad decisions rolled into one. They couldn't have waited a few more minutes for either the ride to move or the cast members to come get them? And how'd that guy even squeeze out of the lap bar without breaking it? So many decisions were made here, and none of them were smart ones.

The risks taken here go beyond just plain stupid and into genuinely dangerous territory. At its maximum height, this Space Mountain is 23m (about 76 feet) tall. That's a long way to fall if something went wrong (well, wrong-er) with their DIY evacuation. "What if it started to move while he was trying to get off, or his kids," wondered one TikTok viewer. Exactly!

Moreover, if nothing else, this is just a near-surefire way to get yourself permabanned from Disney. "I KNOW security was waiting by the emergency exit for them bc it leads right next to the security station backstage " remarked viewer @keuppy. "They were and tbh the cast members were so shocked," @heartandsaultravel confirmed. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall for that moment...

No one wants to be stuck on a broken ride, but the cons of trying to break out and evacuate yourself massively overwhelm any pros. These three riders showed us a prime example of what NOT to do at Disneyland- unless you're comfortable potentially risking life, limb, and permanent Disneyland banishment.
