‘Japanese-Inspired’ Townhouse in Portland, Oregon Is a Lovely Urban Retreat

Such a refreshing design!

In an age where boring, pre-fab architecture seems to be all there is on the market, a home with a thoughtful design and distinctive personality is a rare breath of fresh air. People don't "ooh" and "aah" over faux wood paneling and the same boring design principles they've seen everywhere for over a decade- they want places that stand out with a look that's singular and special.

If you're looking for that breath of fresh air, then check out this adorable "Japanese-inspired" townhouse that's currently on the market in Portland, Oregon. Portland realtor toured the charming "Mado" Townhouse on November 2. Not only is this place beautiful, but for once, the asking price isn't seven figures!

The Mado Townhouse gets its name from the Japanese word for "window," and that's clearly reflected in its design. Touring the 3-bed, 2.5-bath urban townhouse, Portland realtor @homeswithjeremy, made particular note of the property's many beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows, including one particularly unique feature. Set within the spacious kitchen was a full glass garage door that opened up onto a small balcony. Perfect for letting in the fresh air during those Pacific Northwest summers!

Beyond the property's spacious windows, the Japanese stylistic influences could be found in the warm wooden interior (particularly in the roof design with the exposed beams) and the clean and simple- but not boring- interior design. It all feels very natural and fresh without sacrificing any of the more appealing modern touches a homeowner would want! Situated in the heart of Portland, Oregon, The Mado feels like a refreshing urban retreat.

Now, I won't lie and say that this place is dirt cheap, but after seeing tiny townhomes go for millions in places like Manhattan, I was ready for any price to be named. However, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that The Mado is currently on the Portland real estate market for $450,000. Potential buyers be warned, though- there is a $500 monthly HOA fee attached. Yeah, there's always a catch with these things. No place is perfect!
