Fans Stalking Taylor Swift Outside New Jersey Wedding Leaves People Outraged
Being a celebrity comes with a lot of perks, but the downsides are pretty obvious, too — like being followed by paparazzi just about everywhere you go. And at a certain level of fame, you also end up being followed by fans who are hoping to catch a glimpse of you while you're out and about, which I can imagine is pretty unnerving (to say the least).
Few people know this experience better than Taylor Swift, and as @piperboudoir shared in a TikTok video on Saturday, August 19, people are not pleased with a situation that unfolded involving the singer over the weekend.
In case you aren't familiar with the Taylor Swift lore, this weekend was a pretty big one for her close circle. Her friend and frequent producer, Jack Antonoff, married actress Margaret Qualley in New Jersey, and of course, Swift (along with several other celebrities, including Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz) was in attendance.
But on Friday night, fans figured out that she'd be at their pre-wedding rehearsal dinner and absolutely mobbed the outside of the restaurant for blocks. Eventually, police had to show up. And after Swift has mentioned more than once that being followed is not her cup of tea (along with the fact that she has had actual stalkers threatening her safety before) many fans aren't impressed by the people who showed up hoping to see her.
That includes the OP in this video who said, "you basically hunted this girl down for what? To see her walk to her car? Did you get what you wanted?"
She went on to point out how this wasn't even a public event, highlighting just how inappropriate this behavior is, and the commenters on this post seem to agree.
"She does so much for us. Those concerts were over 3 hours long. Leave her alone and let her have a moment to herself," one fan wrote, referencing her very popular Eras Tour.
It would be hard to blame Swift if she just wanted to enjoy celebrating a friend's wedding in peace. Leave the lady alone!
