'Star Wars' Takes Over the Empire State Building and It's a Force

It's just breathtaking!

When visiting New York City, seeing the Empire State Building — and traveling to the very top of it — is on a lot of people's must do lists. It was once known as the tallest building in the world, and even though it no longer holds that title, it's still a pretty impressive sight with an incredible view. And it's also a building that knows how to have fun; if you follow its official TikTok account, you already know that everyone who works there has the best sense of humor.

Right now, the Empire State Building is showing off in a way that Star Wars fans are going to love, whether they're able to see it in person or just live vicariously through those who can. This is incredible!

As we can see in this video that the Empire State Building's TikTok account shared on Thursday, March 21, this New York City landmark is getting a total Star Wars makeover — at least, for a little while.

They hinted at the change in earlier videos, with one that showed Darth Vader accompanied by two storm troopers inside of the building, along with another that shared clips from Hayden Christensen's visit. And now, in the video above, we finally get to see what we've been waiting for: the Star Wars show that fans can watch on the Empire State Building. Yes, this is a real thing that is happening!

In the nearly five-minute clip, we can see scenes from the franchise playing out on the side of the building, accompanied by lights and, of course, the soundtrack. This is unreal!

Why Did Star Wars Take Over?

The new light show is part of the "March to May 4th" campaign, as Star Wars fans prepare for Star Wars Day on May 4th (as in, "May the 4th be with you").

From now until April 29, guests who visit the Empire State Building can enjoy some Star Wars-themed fun, like a life-sized LEGO display of villains like Darth Vader and Darth Maul and a cool window display in the Fifth Avenue Lobby windows.

On the first floor, there's an immersive fan experience, where visitors will be able to take pictures with characters and pose with themed backdrops.

If you're a Star Wars fan who will be in New York City anytime in the next month, it seems like the time to visit the Empire State Building is definitely now! It seems like these experiences will be a lot of fun — and who could pass up on all of those cool photo ops?
