Mom Sends Sweet Shout Out to Stranger Who Helped with Her Baby on Southwest Flight
Some people might refer to air travel as "flying the friendly skies," but for parents, lately it seems like it's anything but. Video after video has gone viral of people being angry about crying babies on planes, and the comments sections on those videos can make parents feel even worse. There's a lot we can do to try to avoid our kids melting down in public, but they're also unpredictable — and they should be free to feel their emotions in a new situation that might be a little scary for them.
The good news? There are still lovely people out there who are willing to help out moms who are traveling with their children, as we can see in this TikTok video that @quashaymonnae shared from her Southwest flight with her baby.
In this sweet video, instead of yet another rant about how annoying babies on planes are, we see a total stranger who offered to help this mom on her son's very first flight. We never would have known that these two just met if baby boy's mom hadn't told us!
"My baby fell in absolute love with her, he reached for her and everything and doesn't normally do that!" Mom wrote in her caption.
Traveling as a mom, even under the best of circumstances, is incredibly difficult and stressful, and traveling alone with your kids without another adult along is especially tough.
And despite all these negative videos that have been cropping up lately, as a mom myself to a toddler who definitely has her wild moments, I've noticed that people are willing to jump in and help when we travel alone more often than you might think. I've had total strangers open doors for me, help me carry a stroller up a flight of stairs, and even some older kids will try to entertain my 2-year-old if she's starting to get grumpy when we're out and about, which is such a lifesaver for me.
It costs nothing to be kind to the people around you, especially moms who are just doing their best to wrangle their kids under a high pressure situation. Offer to help or even just offer a smile — there's a good chance she needs to see it.
