Grandma's Rules of Airplane Etiquette Should Seriously Be the Law

People have gotten so rude anymore!

It's hard to know if these moments are just becoming more visible thanks to social media or if they're actually becoming more common, but lately, it seems like people truly are forgetting how to act when they're on an airplane. I get it — traveling is a really stressful time, even when you're going somewhere fun, but many people seem to have forgotten the right ways to treat everyone from flight attendants to their fellow passengers on board an airplane. A little kindness goes a long way, after all!

It's past time for a refresher on airplane etiquette, and one beloved TikToker is here to share her best tips with the world. If you won't listen us, maybe you'll listen to Babs!

On Sunday, November 5, the internet's unofficial grandmother, @brunchwithbabs, took the opportunity to share a few very important pieces of airplane etiquette with her nearly four million followers while she was traveling herself. Listen up, because this is invaluable travel advice!

Some of her tips were pretty helpful reminders, like the fact that the armrests actually do move up (there's a button on the bottom of them) to make it easier to get into your seat, along with some that are just about politeness, like not bringing anything with a strong smell to eat on board. And speaking of the armrests? Bab confirms that they both belong to the person in the middle seat, just as other experts have said in the past.

And while some people took issue with one of her tips — leaving your shoes on, because it's rude to be barefoot in public — it's really not a bad idea if you're not on a long haul flight. Nobody wants to smell their neighbor's feet!

She did save one of the most important tips for last, though: be sure to thank the flight crew when you're getting off the plane. Those flight attendants deal with a lot and they definitely don't get paid enough!

During a time when we're gearing up for holiday travel, these reminders are more important than ever. Don't let Babs down!
