Vegas Local Names ‘Worst Resort’ in Sin City That Gives ‘Zombie Apocalypse’ Vibes

This is the last place you'll want to stay.

If you're going to book a stay at a casino resort in Las Vegas, you've really gotta do your due diligence and research your potential stay well. Many visitors get hypnotized by cheap rates and legacy names without realizing what's really going on behind the scenes.

Popular Sin City guide @vegasstarfish dished out the details on what she considers the 'worst resort' in Las Vegas. At one point in time, this resort was a happenin' spot, but these days it just gives "zombie apocalypse " vibes.

OK, so first, the pros: you can get rooms at the Rio for rates as cheap as $8 a night. And now, the cons: literally everything else!

She wasn't kidding about those zombie apocalypse vibes. Most of the resort is abandoned and in disrepair. Black tarps and barriers block off many parts of the resort, including a lot of the pool area. Even the places that are still technically operating are mostly empty and eerie.

There's safety issues, too, especially with those jagged metal pipes sticking out of the ground near the pool! Oh, and don't forget about those feral cat colonies! Even as a major cat lover, I don't think feral cats roaming the halls is a good sign for any hotel.

Yet despite the resort being a kitschy, creepy ghost town, it's somehow still up and running; probably because of the tourists who still line up out the door to check in at the hotel. After all, if you're just going off of the rates alone, the Rio is pretty enticing! It's not until you're actually inside that you realize there may be a reason why those rates are dirt-cheap.

But these terrible conditions have actually worked in a few lucky visitors' benefit. "I booked a room at Rio & at arrival I was given a suite at the Caesar’s Palace instead due to elevator problems. 5 days at CP for the price of Rio," boasted @yesie1992.

Hmmm... booking a stay at the Rio in the slim hopes that you'll be upgraded to a Caesar’s Palace room when the elevator breaks down. Budget booking hack? Just kidding! You may be visiting Las Vegas, but this one's not worth the gamble!
