Small Plane Goes Straight Into the Water in Huntington Beach in Harrowing Video

In 2020, fatal accident rate by airplanes was 1.049 accidents per 100,000 flight hours, according to the National Transportation Safety Board. Although this seems very minuscule, plane crashes and even fatalities do happen. It is even rarer to witness a plane crash.

In a new video that was shared on TikTok by @nbcla, someone caught on video a plane going straight into the water in Huntington Beach, California. You can see the plane nose drive into the water, and then just wait until you see what happens right afterward. We can't believe this was all caught on video.

Wow, it's chilling to watch. Plane crashes are scary enough to think about, but seeing one in real life must of been terrifying. We're so thankful for those people who immediately ran into the water to save the pilot! Commenters agree that these people are real heroes, like user @trouvaille73, who said, "Those surfers deserve so much recognition for running in to help. I hope the Pilot is ok." Agreed!

Believe it or not, this plane honestly came down in the right place at the right time. According to the Associated Press, there was a lifeguard competition going on! Yep, it was the 2022 California Surf Lifesaving Association Junior Lifeguard Championship. We can all be relieved to know that the pilot was, indeed, safely rescued that day, though he was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Luckily, no one was in the vicinity of the plane when it hit the ocean, so there were no other people harmed.
