400 Pounds of Pasta Found in the Woods of New Jersey Invites Conspiracy Theories

What the heck is going on here?

There are certain things we'd totally expect to see in the woods. Things like mushrooms, different plants, various creatures like squirrels and birds, and, unfortunately, maybe even a little bit of trash left behind from those who went exploring before we did. But pasta? Yeah, that's never really been on our list.

Apparently, though, it's happening in New Jersey right now. 400 pounds of pasta, to be exact — and after getting a glimpse of what's going on in this TikTok video from @thegardenstatepodcast, we have far more questions than answers.

You have to watch the video to see the photos, otherwise, you're going to have a hard time exactly picturing what this means. This is in Old Bridge, NJ, and when we say there are mountains of pasta everywhere, we mean it. Spaghetti, elbow shaped macaroni, this is the real deal – and even more interestingly, it all seems to have been cooked before it was dumped out here.

The podcast hosts pointed out that there may have been a more sinister reason behind the pasta dumping: Pasta has a pH that can impact the water supply nearby. Hmm...

If you're just as curious as we are, we bring good news: The mystery has officially been solved. According to a New York NBC affiliate, a man cleaning out his mother's house after her death discovered that she had been stockpiling mass amounts of pasta, and this is where he left it. It hadn't been cooked at the time, but thanks to heavy rains in the area, it now looks like it has been cooked.

The township's public works department has already hauled the pasta away, and there was no harm done. At least there was a happy ending!
