Adorable Feline Ticket Agent at British Railway Station Is Melting Hearts
For most housecats, life is just as easy (and lazy) as they want it to be. They don't have to work or pay rent- all they do is just eat, sleep, and sit in the sun. But just like people, some cats want a little bit more out of life- and when these can-do kitties get their chance, they reach out and take it!
Up until a few months ago, the Stevenage Train Station was just like any of the other hundreds of train stations across the United Kingdom. But all that changed recently once a kitty named Nala started working there as a ticket agent. For once, people there didn't seem to mind having their fare checked!
In an effort to spread a little good cheer, TikTok user Jen aka @thatgoodnewsgirl shared the story of Nala, the cat who took over the Stevenage Station by storm as their new "ticket agent"- and took over commuters' hearts in the process. We think Nala is the purrr-fect cat for the job!
The friendly four-year-old feline is a rescue cat that lives just down the street from the train station. A very sociable cat, Nala liked the attention she got from commuters at the station, and she began getting more of it when she started taking her daily post on the ticket barriers. Now nobody gets past without letting Nala check their ticket- and giving her a pet, of course.
Not only has Nala taken to her "ticket agent" position with ease, but she's had a positive effect on the locals as well. Her charming, friendly presence gives local rail commuters something to bond over, and strangers have even been known to strike up conversations with each other while paying Nala a visit. This sweet kitty's constant presence has seriously helped foster a sense of community down at the Stevenage train station.
Now that Nala is starting to get international attention, she's no longer just a local celebrity. Still, she has lots of friendly workers at the train station to keep an eye on her, and she also has a collar with a GPS tracker so her owners always know where she is.
