'Mystery House' in South Pasadena, California Gives Us Major Halloween Vibes

It would be worth a drive-by and grabbing a photo.

Now that spooky season is officially here and Halloween is just around the corner, we can't help but think about planning a haunted getaway of our own. Ghost tours, creepy mansions with scary backstories... it all starts to sound really appealing this time of year!

And in case you're looking for locations to visit, it might be wise to check out Pasadena, California, where you'll find a creepy "mystery house" that will definitely get you in the mood before October 31 is here. According to a video from @macabremalia on TikTok, the home — which is called the Torrance-Childs House — was also used in What We Do in the Shadows and has a real life haunted past.

The house was built in 1902 and spans over 13,000 square feet. It sounds like a dream home, considering the fact that the features include an elevator and an indoor swimming pool, but it's actually anything but.

Years later, a future owner who also happened to be the bishop of a local church added a chapel, complete with organ loft, to the home, and it seems like it was around that time that creepy things began to happen. Apparently, there are news stories going back to the '30s about how "mysterious" the mansion was.

This house is definitely worth checking out if you happen to be in the area. They haven't been able to prove exactly what makes the home feel so "off," but maybe the mystery will end up being solved now that the story of the house is reaching a wider audience...
