Mom Unveils Genius Hotel Room Hacks Including an Easy Bed Bug Trick
It's easy to become an expert on traveling if you're only doing it solo or with fellow adults, but traveling with kids? That's going to take some research, preparation, and a lot of practice before you've figured out all of the little tips and tricks you need to make it work for your family. Every child is different, and that means that their needs while traveling are going to be different, too (especially when they're very young and don't quite understand the concept of "vacation" or get a little freaked out when they're not sleeping at home in their own bed).
Fortunately, the best way to learn is by listening to other parents who have been there, and one mom is sharing her best hacks for staying in a hotel with kids in a video on TikTok. Some of these tricks will even be worth trying out when you're not traveling with kids!
These helpful hotel hacks were shared by @lorafied on Saturday, March 2, and this video is coming just in time to put these tricks to work for spring break, making your next family vacation easier (and safer)
The tip here that really blew my mind was all about doing laundry. It's often expensive to do laundry while you're traveling, so one way to get around that is to bring this portable washing machine from Amazon, and you won't even have to leave your hotel room. All you have to do is throw your clothes in there along with a laundry sheet and some water, shake it up, and you're good to go. You can dry them on the shower (or use the suction cup clothes line she brought with her) and you have clean clothes at a fraction of the cost.
I was also pretty impressed by the bed bug spray she brought with her that's TSA approved to bring on an airplane — spray it around the bed and the mattress to keep the pests away and it's safe to be around children and animals. If you're really hoping to avoid beg bugs while traveling, it might be worth trying out!
More Tips on Traveling With Kids
I've only been a mom for a few years now, but we've traveled a lot, so I've picked up a few tips to help things go more smoothly.
For example, I always bring a collapsible storage basket with dividers in it with me. When we get to the hotel room, I open it up, and it keeps all of our things organized and easy to access, from extra snacks to diapers to random stroller accessories.
And when you reach your destination, you might find you have more fun when you go at your kid's pace. Not only is it really fun to see the world through their eyes, but when the kids are happy, everyone is happy.
Good luck on spring break this year!
