Man Casually Jogging As Storm Rages in England Will Make Anyone Feel Lazy

Look at him go!

I'm someone who genuinely enjoys working out on a regular basis, especially when it's spring and the weather is nice outside. However, I, along with most people that work out, draw the line at jogging outside when it's storming. Sorry, but I gotta call it quits at some point, and struggling through a thunderstorm is a bridge too far for me.

But for one particular Liverpool man, "quitting" clearly isn't a word in his vocabulary. Despite Storm Kathleen kicking up high surf and blowing powerful winds across the UK last weekend, this committed fitness fan didn't let it get in the way of his workout routine!

Well, now I feel lazy. The @abcnews video captures the insane surf churned up by Storm Kathleen breaking over the promenade on the Liverpool Waterfront, spray continually blowing over the top. The jogger must have been completely drenched, and with all that wind, he was probably freezing too. But did he even slow down? No! This could easily pass as part of a Rocky workout montage. This guy's committed!

This was no minor squall, either. According to The Guardian, peak wind gusts measuring between 40-60 mph were recorded throughout areas impacted by Storm Kathleen, including Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and west England. In some coastal areas on the Irish Sea, winds maxed out at over 70 mph, putting them at nearly hurricane-force intensity on the Beaufort Scale. If this guy can jog through a near hurricane entirely unfazed, nothing's gonna stop him!

Typical Spring Weather in the UK

According to The Guardian's aforementioned coverage, this storm system drove very warm air up from northern Africa into west and central Europe, driving up temperatures to abnormally high levels. Storms of this magnitude aren't exactly "de rigeur" for the United Kingdom. In fact, despite the old phrase "April showers bring May flowers," April is actually one of the driest months of the year, according to Weather & Radar UK!

Still, even with it being comparitively dry, you can expect a decent amount of rainfall in April- an average of 13 days a month, according to LondonTravelPlanning.com (did we mention it's really rainy in the UK?). You can also expect an average temperature between 53 F to 61 F in the daytime during April, so don't forget to pack a light jacket if you're visiting England in April!
