Creepy Animatronic Fail in Magic Kingdom Is Freaking Out Disneygoers

Good luck sleeping tonight after watching this...

Ah, Disney World... The Most Magical Place on Earth, at least as far as its fans are concerned (its impact on your bank account is somewhat less magical, but I digress). Disney has spent billions of dollars perfecting the Disney World experience to ensure maximum immersion for their guests without any unpleasant breaks in the whimsical illusion.

Still, even the most capable Imagineer can't prevent the occasional malfunction... though usually malfunctions aren't quite this creepy. While visiting Magic Kingdom on November 28, parkgoer Kira Haas caught sight of an animatronic fail freaky enough to send a chill up her spine- along with the spines of countless other Disney fans!

What Kira Haas (@dovelybell on TikTok) filmed looked more like a scene from Evil Dead than Snow White and The Seven Dwarves. It appeared as though Dopey the Dwarf had ripped Snow White's arm clean off of her shoulder mid-dance! Something about watching Dopey brandishing the detatched arm while the one-armed Snow White danced around the room to the upbeat yodeling tune is just... borderline Lynchian.

Yet this horrific scene in Magic Kingdom wasn't even the only example of animatronic-related body horror to come out of Disney World this week. Just this Sunday, a Mark Twain animatronic in Epcot's "American Adventure" suffered a disturbing malfunction that left Twain's head bent at a medically concerning angle. Something seems very awry with these park animatronics lately...

On TikTok, viewers were not only disturbed by the unsettling tableau in Snow White's house, but also very disappointed in Disney overall, complaining of an alleged decline in quality throughout the Disney Parks.

"Disneyland [sic] is falling apart and becoming a more dystopian parody of itself," mused viewer @defiantly.deni.

"Disney wants all of our money... yet this is what you get for it? Hard pass," scoffed TikTok user @sir.snuggleton.

Yet despite the naysayers, Kira Haas leapt to the defense of Disney World, or at least their park employees: "In Disney’s defense, these animatronics are very old and from the original ride. The ride was closed to repair her the second we notified cast members."

Even with the impeccable craftsmanship of Disney Imagineers and regular maintenance, sometimes even the best Disney animatronics can have a- frightfully- bad day. Thanks to Kira's quick intervention, though, hopefully Snow White will be back up and running soon- this time with both arms attached!
