Incredibly Detailed London-Themed Hotel Even Has Its Own Big Ben
Imagine walking to your hotel room window and seeing the sights of London laid out before you: Big Ben, Nelson's Column, and even 10 Downing Street if you squint and look real close. But you're not in London at all: in fact, you're almost 6,000 miles away.
That's the experience guests can have at the unusual Londoner Hotel in Macao, an autonomous region off of the southern coast of China. Travel vlogger @uptin recently stayed at the resort, a massive complex that recreates the London landscape on a smaller scale.
The detail that went into this huge hotel is amazing. It's not a 1:1 exact replica of the British capital, but rather highlights many of the city's most recognizable landmarks. The facade is designed to look a lot like Buckingham Palace. On the grounds you can also find highlights like Big Ben and even a little facade replica of 10 Downing Street, the apartment inhabited by the Prime Minister. The smaller details are there, too, from walkways built to resemble the London Metro (complete with hand-holds hanging from the ceiling) to a big red double-decker bus full of holographic passengers.
Like other hotels and resorts that aim to represent certain cities (such as the Paris and Venice-themed hotels, which @uptin remarked can also be found both in Las Vegas and Macao), The Londoner is all about capturing the look and feel of a city on its grounds. But the interesting theme isn't the only thing visitors can enjoy. The hotel's website boasts multiple large pools, several spas, a full retail mall, an interactive teamLabs exhibit, and many restaurants serving up both Western and Chinese cuisine.
The Londoner is an unusual yet overwhelmingly charming resort concept. If you're looking for a little classic British charm on the opposite side of the world from the real London, The Londoner in Macao is the place to be!
