International Business Class With KLM Airlines Comes With the Best Airline Souvenir Ever
You may have brought home a couple souvenirs from your last big vacation or trip abroad, but when's the last time you brought home a souvenir just from flying with an airline? I'm not talking complimentary headphones or travel blankets or whatever- I'm talking about real, honest-to-goodness, show-'em-off-on-your-shelf souvenirs!
Select airlines will offer specialty souvenirs to customers who book long-haul flights in business or first class. Yet among all the options out there, a reporter for The Points Guy ranked KLM Royal Dutch's Airlines international business-class souvenir above all the rest in an October 26 TikTok. Why? Well... see for yourself.
An international business-class trip with KLM Airlines gave our reporter from @thepointsguy the perfect opportunity to pick up one of the airline's exclusive souvenirs. At the end of an international flight in business class, KLM flyers are allowed to choose from a selection of blue and white ceramic Delft houses. Every Delft house model depicts a real building in the Netherlands, over half of which can be found in the capital city of Amsterdam.
OK, they're charming and all, but what makes these Delft houses different from your standard take-home tchotchkes? That'd be the boozy Dutch delicacy contained inside each Delft House: a healthy serving of Bols Genever gin.
Even if you're not much of a gin lover, there's another incentive for taking home these souvenirs: building up a complete collection. KLM Airlines has been handing out these charming ceramic souvenirs since the 1950's, releasing a new Delft House for each passing year. They've also filled in their backlog and released a Delft House for every year of the airline's existence, meaning that there are currently 104 distinct Delft Houses to date.
The charming collectibles have found a serious fanbase among KLM flyers, and there's even an app collectors can use to keep track of their own inventories. If you're not a serious collector, though (or just don't fly business class with KLM frequently enough to collect them), you can check out the collection in its entirety at the KLM Crown Lounge in Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.
Charming collectible ceramics, all based on real historic landmarks and containing boozy surprise inside. In my opinion, KLM's quaint airline souvenirs definitely take home the gold!
