Disney Fan's Sad Goodbye to 'Splash Mountain' Tugs at the Heartstrings

It's truly the end of an era.

Disney Parks fans already know that a big change is coming to the Magic Kingdom this month. On January 23, after more than 30 years of being a Walt Disney World staple, Splash Mountain (as we know it, anyway) is closing to be re-themed into a ride inspired by The Princess and the Frog. Scheduled to reopen late next year, the ride will be called Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

Knowing that Splash Mountain's time in the parks is quickly coming to an end, fans have flocked to Disney to ride it one more time to say goodbye. Many fans on TikTok, including @earcandycreationsco, are documenting their final rides, and this video in particular is making people a bit emotional!

Over audio from Magic Kingdom's popular fireworks show, "Happily Ever After," these fans shared footage from their last visit, showing the outside of the ride and the OP himself sadly waving goodbye while wearing a t-shirt that said "The Last Splash." Aww!

In the comments, fellow fans shared their own feelings about the closure.

"I have a picture going down Splash Mountain with my late grandfather right before he passed... I will treasure Splash Mountain forever," one person wrote.

Another added, "excited to see what imagineering has in store for Tiana, but will miss this nostalgic feeling!"

It's going to be exciting to see what Disney does with the ride — after all, Princess Tiana has waited long enough to get her due in these theme parks. But we'll still think about the fun memories we had on Splash Mountain in its original form, because that's what most of us remember from our childhood visits to Disney.

Goodbye, Splash Mountain! We'll never forget you!
