Girls Arrive in Italy to Find Their Villa 'Doesn't Exist' and People Are Invested
If you've traveled before, you know that everything doesn't always go smoothly — and being thrown a major curveball while in a state or even country that's unfamiliar to you can be a lot more challenging than handling a similar crisis at home. Even the best laid plans can fall through when you're on the go, and many times, through no fault of your own. We've heard a lot of horror stories about vacation rentals going wrong, and the one that's going viral right now is quite a doozy.
This week, popular influencer and TikToker Alix Earle shared that she and her friends had been stranded in Italy. During their visit to Positano, they discovered that the villa they were supposed to stay at didn't actually exist... and not until it was too late.
In a video she shared with her 5.3 million followers on TikTok on Monday, Earle announced that she and the 11 girls she was traveling with were "stranded in Italy."
"The house we were supposed to stay in doesn't exist, our car service canceled, it's midnight, we literally don't know where to go," she said.
Given Earle's massive reach, tons of people have been on the edge of their seats, waiting to find out what happened next, and even Airbnb commented on her video, offering to hook her up.
In an update video she posted shortly afterward, she and her friends did find a place to spend the night, but only for the night — she said in a comment that in the morning, they'd be back on the hunt to find a more permanent place to stay. Oof!
Let this be a lesson to be extra careful about where you book your accommodations, especially If you're traveling somewhere new where you don't have any friends or family to let you crash in an emergency. Better safe than stranded!
