Video of Flooded Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas Is Freaking People Out

Floods, even minor ones, are scary things, and when they happen people tend to freak out and panic. While yes, you should take flooding seriously, and get yourself and your stuff to higher, dryer ground fast, if you have enough time do to so safely you should prepare before you venture out through the floodwater, lest you encounter something nasty or dangerous in the water.

Keep that in mind as you watch this video, shared with us by TikTok user @latruce. They captured a shocking scene- the famous Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas flooded out by a sudden rain storm. However, one minor detail captured on this video is what truly freaked them out!

Sorry... are those people seriously walking through floodwater BAREFOOT??? They know that water is coming in off of the streets of Las Vegas, right? We know that nothing short of rain boots would offer full protection here, but seriously- you gotta try to put something on! We don't even wanna thinking about the kind of germs floating in the water. "Vegas is the last place in the world I would want to walk around in public bare-footed!" agreed user bmwalker1789.

Just as shocking as the sight of these unsanitary conditions, however, was the fact that Las Vegas, a desert city which had not seen serious floods since the 90s, was suddenly flooding so drastically. It's not all that uncommon to see flooding in desert areas, though- when the occasional rainstorm does hit, the ground may be too dry to absorb the water. That sounds like it may have been the case here: "I read that it really didn't rain all that much. It just came down all at once and basically this is the result," reported user @ken_needsadog. "We live in a desert people and have the worst sewer system. Welcome to monsoon season in Vegas," said user @yaya_7o2.

We'd never thought we'd say this, but... if you're traveling to Las Vegas sometime soon, it might be a good idea to pack some water shoes!
