Video of Insane Hail in Estes Park, Colorado Looks Like Christmas in July

July is always one of the hottest months of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. The days are long and the temperatures are blazing. Even in chillier climes like the mountainous regions of Colorado, you don't expect to see a lot of ice and snow on the ground, outside of the mountain peaks themselves.

However, that's exactly what the residents of one Colorado town got just the other night. TikTok user @kyliebearse, who is also the meteorologist for Fox 31 in Denver, gave us a hot scoop on a freezing freak weather event in Estes Park. Overnight, the town was pelted with over a foot of hail, making it look like Christmas in July!

WOW. Now THERE'S something you don't see every day! While hail is not too uncommon during summer storms, that amount of it sure is! It almost looks like snowfall, perfect for snowball fights and snow angels. Sadly, it's just a bunch of hard ice pellets, making it a nuisance- as well as a flooding hazard in those amounts! Thankfully, some helpful heroes cleared the mess away safely.

Many of the commenters were Estes Park residents who had just weathered the storm themselves! "The lightning was crazy. I’ve never seen lightning flash so consistently for so long with no breaks." said user @alliwithak. "Storms all day yesterday and into today have just been wild. So much lightning. At least it’s only 70 today :)," reported user @hunteroc5.

"My husband drove up there for work this morning. He was so surprised by how much it looked like it snowed! Good thing he’s a native!" commented @dperruccio. Apparently, for Colorado natives, freak meteorological events like these are nothing new. "That’s the fun of living in the mountains. You can get four seasons in a single day." said @gitchegumee.

Colorado is one of the most beautiful states in the country, and its mountain vistas must be seen to be believed. However, tourists traveling to Estes Park anytime soon may want to come prepared and bring an good umbrella- preferably one that's steel-plated!
