Video of Waves Pounding Cruise Ship in the Middle of Pacific Storm Will Make Anyone Queasy
Even under the best weather circumstances and the calmest waters, some people still feel a bit seasick while on a cruise. It doesn't always mean avoiding these types of vacations entirely; medications like Dramamine do exist for a reason! But if you feel a bit motion-sick while floating along in the calmest waters, that's nothing compared to the level of queasy you might feel when there's a storm brewing, and like any other type of weather, they can also be hard to predict.
That happened to one group of cruisers who recently found themselves in the middle of a giant storm in the ocean that was causing some serious waves. After seeing this Tiktok video of the passengers' view from inside the ship, I can't decide if I feel amazed that a cruise ship can withstand this kind of lashing while keeping everyone safe, or if I feel nauseous just watching this on a screen. This couldn't have been fun to experience firsthand!
One of the passengers on the ship, @isidoraluv, shared a video from what looks like a lounge area or dining room on board. Through the giant windows, you can see the waves in the Pacific Ocean absolutely pounding the ship (and everyone's reactions to it). According to her tag, they were somewhere in the waters of Auckland, New Zealand at the time — yikes!
And while there's no doubt that they felt some kind of motion from the waves, it's actually pretty impressive to see how much the cruise ship could withstand with a minimal impact on everyone inside. If you look at the glass of beer on the table by the window when the waves hit, the liquid doesn't even appear to move. Amazing!
In the comments, most people were admitting that this would be an absolute "no" for them.
"I'm having a panic attack and you didn't even invite me to dinner!" one person joked.
She also shared another video to show how the storm was impacting the pool on one of the decks, where you can see the water come up and out of the pool when the ship hit a particularly rough set of waves. Whoa!
Fortunately, it looks like everyone was safe (including the beer), even though that may not have been the best experience they had while on the cruise. The power of modern cruise ship engineering at work!
