Couple Goes Beyond the Call of Duty to Surprise Parents for the Holidays

They weren't about to let a canceled flight stop them.

Travel over the holiday season is always a bit of a disaster, but it seems like this year was much worse than others. Between the blizzards and winter weather that affected certain parts of the country and the fact that it's already a busy time to travel, a lot of people were left with canceled flights. But when there's a will to get home for Christmas, there's a way... at least, according to this couple on TikTok.

As TikTok user @deannagiulietti shared in a video, she and her partner, Chase, were determined to make it to Oregon to see his family for Christmas, even though their flight got canceled. Chase's mom was, of course, disappointed about the news, so when their flight was rescheduled for the following day, they decided to surprise her.

The surprise didn't come without a few hiccups, though. Once they made it to their destination and got to their rental car, it was totally iced over, but it was nothing that some quick thinking and using a credit card as a makeshift ice scraper couldn't handle. It was a good thing, too, because the payoff when they got to Chase's mom's house was absolutely worth it.

She was so surprised and so excited to see her son standing there when she opened that door. This is what the holidays are really all about.

And while some commenters were totally focused on the fact that Chase was wearing shorts in December to surprise his mom, other people gushed over what a sweet surprise this was.

"The screams are worth it! What an awesome surprise!" one person wrote.

This is the cutest video ever. We know his mom was glad he made it home for Christmas against all odds!
