Theme Park Fan Debunks Viral Myth Around Epcot's Popular 'Cosmic Rewind' Ride
Since it opened in Epcot almost a year ago to this date, the "Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind" ride has been a smash hit. One of the ride's big appeals is its nostalgic soundtrack, consisting of six songs that get randomly selected for each vehicle.
Many guests have tried to predict what song they'll get, and lately a viral hack has arisen which claims to do that. But as theme park lover @holdmychurro warns, you shouldn't believe everything you see online.
Come on… did people really think it would be that easy? This is Disney we're talking about here, hardcore Disney World fans scrutinize every single detail of every single aspect of the parks with alarming intensity. If something as simple as the symbols on the vehicles indicated which song would play, Disney fans would be on that fact in a heartbeat. Good concept for a clickable viral park "hack," but unfortunately it's pure misinformation.
No, as much as park-goers intent on riding to every song would love to predict the ride's musical whims, the cast members aren't lying: it is completely randomized. Although I personally couldn't confirm whether or not the ride's computer is actually named QUILL (though it wouldn't surprise me), it's been widely covered that the ride's songs are selected randomly by the ride's system. So unfortunately, you can't bribe a cast member to get a certain song to play, either- they don't even have control over it.
With the ride just shy of a year old, Disney fans are still working to uncover all of its secrets. But there's no secret on this point: Cosmic Rewind's songs really are random. So whether you end up doing the conga, disco-ing in an inferno, or running (so far away), there's really nothing more you can do but sit back and enjoy the music.
