Powerful Cold Front Brings Significant Snowfall to Colorado Springs Area
If you're anywhere in the contiguous United States right now, I probably don't have to tell you that a major cold front is sweeping the nation- chances are, you're already feeling it. Thanks to a massive cold front of Arctic winds blow down from Canada, this year's Halloween is gonna be a particularly chilly one.
But while the cold weather is merely dropping temps in many parts of the Lower 48, over in Colorado, it's helping to herald in some early winter weather! Thanks to the recent Arctic blast, the Colorado Springs area experienced its first "significant snowfall" of the season on October 29!
Just look at all that snow! Forgot about seeing warm autumn oranges on Halloween- much of the Colorado Springs area just completely bypassed autumn in favor of a more "winter wonderland" vibe. This video from @weatherchannel compiled drone shots taken of the snow-dusted landscape of Cascade, a suburb of Colorado Springs.
While snow has already fallen in some parts of Colorado this October, particularly up in the mountains, this recent snowfall is the first "significant" one of the season in Colorado Springs. Southern Colorado NBC affiliate KOAA reports that some areas south of Colorado Springs saw around a foot of snow! Instead of carving their Halloween pumpkins, locals have had to break out the snow shovels and dig out their driveways. Better get those walkways cleared in time for trick-or-treaters!
Despite the sudden Halloween snows, this wintery weather won't stick around long. The upcoming forecast for the Colorado Springs area predicts temperatures rising into the low sixties as soon as tomorrow afternoon. Still, it won't be long at all before Colorado Springs locals can fully trade in spooky season for ski season!
