Vegas Local Inspects Sin City’s Cheapest Casino Resort Hotel Room Under a Blacklight

You might want to bring some Lysol...

Where do you stay when you're visiting Las Vegas? Not every tourist can swing for a luxury hotel room, but many casino resorts offer rooms at discounted rates, pulling in customers who'll gamble at their casinos and spend their moolah on the property. The question is, how much do these cheap rooms sacrifice in quality for affordability's sake?

One Sin City local and social media personality, Vegas Starfish, is answering that question by testing every Las Vegas resort room for "cleanliness, bed bugs, and value." On November 12, she set off to inspect the Strip's cheapest casino resort- blacklight in hand, of course.

Ah, Circus Circus. A lot has already been said about this particular casino resort... Once a fixture of the classic Las Vegas landscape, it's lost a lot of luster over the years. Now it's known for being one of the cheapest-and sketchiest- resorts in Las Vegas.

But is Circus Circus really all that bad, or does it just suffer from bad PR? That's what @vegasstarfish wanted to find out. She booked a suite (which was only $25 before taxes and resort fees), and stepped inside, ready to scrutinize.

While busy, the hallways of the resort were predictably run-down; though Vegas Starfish made a point to recognize the great service from the resort staff. The suite itself, however, didn't look too bad at first glance! Still, further inspection was needed.

Her inspection started strong. The vents had little dust. The bathroom, while bare-bones, seemed clean (though it had a leaky faucet). But then the blacklight came on...

I'll be honest: I expected worse. To paraphrase Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy, it wasn't "a Jackson Pollock painting" in there. However...

The bathroom had some suspicious stains (especially on the lightswitch), and little fluorescent flecks dotted the suite, even on the walls. The mattress and liner both had a matching stain which didn't glow under the blacklight. No bed bugs, at least- though she did find some "weird seeds" on the bed!

So, Circus Circus- yay or nay? Frankly, it looks a bit better than what I expected for a $25 hotel room, but it's still pretty rough. Besides, guests aren't just dealing with the room... they're also staying on a notoriously sketchy resort property.

Vegas Starfish summed her feelings up in the caption: "This remains one of the worst choices even for those on a budget, but it was cleaner than expected." Basically, you could probably get more bang for your buck elsewhere!
