The Christmas season is fast approaching, and with it, countless light displays all over the country. From the lights on people's homes to city streets decked out to the nines, the country starts twinkling brightly during the holiday season. If you're near Charlotte, North Carolina, though, there's a special light show you won't want to miss.
Every year from mid-November to mid-January, NASCAR's Charlotte Motor Speedway lights up with millions of lights across its 4 miles of famed racetrack. The North Carolina travel TikTok account @nctripping has the scoop.
This is ridiculously cool, and it appeals to people on multiple levels. People who love Christmas lights displays can enjoy seeing the incredible light show, synchronized to the holiday music on their radios, while NASCAR fans can enjoy driving down the same racetrack they've seen their favorite racers speed down time and time again. When you're done driving through the four miles of track, park your car, grab some hot cocoa, and enjoy the charming Christmas Village inside. What's not to love?
The Speedway Christmas event is a tried-and-true tradition for many Charlotte locals by now. "Loved taking our daughter here for or first Christmas," shared @blackpearlyj. "This is my and my son’s Christmas tradition," said @dcharmaine90. "We’ve been going for a few year and CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!! Hands down best light show!" exclaimed @hungry_piglet.
Some, however, wish that they could actually push the pedal to the metal and really race! "Let me go up on the banking and I'll come!" chimed in @z_arrow. Honestly, we can't blame them for wanting!
If you'e never been, the Speedway Christmas really has to be seen to be believed. One word of advice, though- the day you go may affect your experience. "Go during the week if you can! If you go on the weekend, expect to sit in traffic for (sometimes) hours," @averyka8 advised. As long as you can beat the traffic for this popular event, though, you're sure to have a good time.
