‘Best Pool at Disney World’ Is Set to Close for 6 Months

This is a buzz kill.

Summer is creeping up on the horizon, and down in Disney World, that means skyrocketing temps and unbearable humidity. Thousands of people will still brave the brutal weather to work in a Disney World during school summer break, but all that heat takes a toll. Then again, it might not be all that bad, as long as you can still splash into your resort's pool at the end of a hot day in the summer sun.

Getting access to a good pool is a must for a summertime Disney vacation, and according to one Disney travel agent, there's one pool that stands out above the rest on the property. That being said, this pool has some big renovations coming up that will leave it closed for six months. Here's why this agent thinks it's Disney World's best pool, and why you should try to fit in a visit before it closes!

In @jessica.mmtravels' opinion, the best pool at Disney World has got to be Stormalong Bay, the pool at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. It takes the gold medal for size alone, as the water area is 3 acres large and holds 750,000 gallons of water. Jessica describes it as more of a mini water park than your typical resort swimming pool, and with extra attractions like an artificial beach, a lazy river, an adults-only hot tub, and a huge pirate ship water slide, it's hard to argue with that take!

Stormalong Bay is also appealing because of its exclusivity. As Stormalong Bay is a guests-only pool, you have to stay for at least one night at either the Yacht Club or Beach Club Resorts to gain access. With the Disney World website putting average room rates for these two resorts at over $650 a night, that increases the exclusivity by a lot. It's a splurge, but one that some Disney guests are willing to indulge in for the sake of great amenities and lower crowds.

Stormalong Bay's Upcoming Refurbishment

Now for the bad news: Stormalong Bay will be closed for the first half of 2025. WaltDisneyWorldMagic.com said that while the Stormalong Bay refurbishment was initially expected to run from January to May, it's now been extended into June. The Tidal, Admiral, and Dune Cove pools will remain open during that time.

The good news is that as long as the renovations don't get extended further out, the pool will be reopened before the peak of the summer season. Still, being that it's Orlando, Florida, the weather gets warm enough for swimming long before summer officially starts, and spring guests may find themselves disappointed that the pool is off-limits. Additionally, as per Disney's announcement, DVCFan.com warns that guests may see or hear construction work during daylight hours. Overall, January-June 2025 might not be the best time to stay at the Yacht or Beach Club Resorts.

If you're staying at the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts in 2024, you've still got plenty of time to enjoy yourself. If you're looking ahead to next year, though, you might have to hold off on vacationing before summer if you want to experience Disney World's best pool!
