Viral Video Totally Nails Everyone's Biggest Baggage Claim Pet Peeve
There are a lot of little hassles and annoyances that come with air travel, making the whole ordeal a bit stressful. Sitting in close quarters with your fellow passengers on the plane, long lines at Starbucks while you're waiting for your flight... the little things that add up to the moment you've finally reached your destination such a relief.
And if you typically check your baggage, you know that the fun (if you could call it that) isn't over when you deplane. Next, you get to head straight to baggage claim to collect your luggage, and that's never a picnic, either — sometimes simply because of the other people who are waiting for their suitcases to make it to the carousel, too.
Travelers @dom_and_ellie recently shared one of their biggest travel pet peeves in a TikTok video, and honestly, they are not alone in this. This isn't about what happens on the flight, but after the flight is over.
The video shows people standing close to the baggage carousel — like, right up against it — waiting to see their bags so they can grab them as quickly as possible. Yes, obviously everyone wants to be on their way as soon as they can, but crowding around like that makes it hard for everyone else to see if their bag has made it down!
"Why can people not understand that if we all stood a meter back and then walked up to the belt to get our bag when it comes out we'd have more space to pick it off the belt and not be up in each other's personal space?!" they wrote.
So true — and commenters certainly agreed.
"The people that stand at the belt are the same that stand up early when deplaning," one person wrote.
Another added, "I love when my bag comes out first and i get to push past them."
Ah, sweet victory. Maybe next time this happens, we should just show the people in the airport this video?
