Recent Flight with All-Women Flight Crew Has People Cheering
Although more women have been entering the field over recent years, the field of aviation has long been a male-dominated one. There have been many hurdles over the years that women have had to overcome to gain their pilot stripes, and it's always tough breaking into a boy's club. That's why women pilots often get excited at the rare opportunity to fly with each other.
Professional airline pilot @joiridehigh was psyched to be paired with another female pilot on a recent flight. She'd soon discover that her flight crew was all-women too!
How cool and inspiring is this? Even in a field like aviation, where the vast majority of pilots are men, female pilots and flight crew are finally starting to carve out a place for themselves. It's genuinely incredible to see something like this, which would have been almost unthinkable just a few decades ago.
Joi's viewers were also inspired by her all-women flight, talking about how they loved seeing stuff like this in real life. "I get overly excited when I hear a woman pilot over the speaker when I’m on a flight," shared @dlm245. "I'm anxious about flying but when I see a woman pilot all of a sudden I'm so chill," admitted @veganchocolateegg.
Other airplane and air traffic workers loved to see it too."I used to be crew and the day we had a full-female crew... one of my best flying days," reminisced @wrenwren26. "As a controller I get so excited when I get to speak to female pilots lol!" said @lifewgigi. It even brought back inspiring memories to those with female pilots in their families. "When I was younger, I used to watch my mom fly over our house," recounted @anaw449.
For Joi, and other female pilots like her, we hope this is the first of many flights flying with an all-female crew. It's inspiring to see women like her succeed at reaching for the skies- literally!
