13-Year-Old Girls' Surprise Beach Trip Goes Viral and Everyone's So Confused
Being able to pull off a surprise trip for someone you love can be tricky, but it's always worth the extra effort and sneaking around. Whether it's something big like Disney World or a cruise for your family member's birthday or a weekend getaway to celebrate an anniversary, planning out those little details is so much fun. But nothing compares to the big reveal moment!
Finally filling the lucky person in on where their surprise trip will be is usually an emotional time, so it makes sense that footage of these surprises often ends up going viral online. But when one mom surprised her daughters and their friends with a trip to the beach and shared it on TikTok, she didn't get the reaction from viewers that she was expecting.
Over the weekend, @jessajo7 shared a clip of her 13 year old daughters at the airport with a group of friends, where they'd find out where they would be going on vacation to celebrate their birthday.
To reveal the city, Mom read out the flight number to them so they could find it on the departures screen, and when they realized it led them to a flight headed for Panama City, Florida, most of them were confused — they didn't realize this meant that was going to be a beach vacation.
"Where do we go in Panama City?" Mom asks in the video. "30A!"
Obviously, this was meant to be The Big Moment, and while one of the girls seemed to know what 30A was, the rest of them were still confused, and so were the people in the comments... including Florida locals.
"I’ve lived in Florida my whole life and I’ve never heard of 30A," one person wrote, while another commenter added, "I must not be well traveled because I have no clue what 30A is."
So What Is 30A?
If you, too, are confused, don't worry — I only know what 30A is because one time, I saw someone driving with a 30A sticker and looked it up to satisfy my curiosity.
Really, it's just referring to an area in the Florida panhandle between Panama City Beach and Destin that is home to plenty of beaches off the Gulf of Mexico. It was named for a scenic highway that's called 30A and stretches on for 26 miles.
Basically, these ladies were surprised with a beach trip. A pretty good surprise, if not a bit puzzling for those of us who were unfamiliar with the name for the area.
