Herb Farms in Cornwall
With so many people wanting to cook and prepare their own food from scratch, there's been a big interest in buying herbs fresh from the suppliers. Here in Cornwall there are a few herb farms and herb shops available. You can also sometimes find herbs for sale in farmer's markets, or the speciality market sometimes held on Lemon Quay in Truro.
My favourite herb farm in Cornwall has to be the Halzephron Herb Farm shop on the Lizard. Although they've moved from the premises I first visited, they're now back on the Lizard sharing an organic farm with Roskilly's, making it double the fun to visit. In fact, with the shop, coffee shop, farm walks, and milking demonstrations, this one alone could easily be a half day visit!
I hope you find this article on herb farms in Cornwall useful. I've enjoyed writing it for you.
I first went to Halzephron Herb Farm in Cornwall nearly 20 years ago. I was taken there by somebody who bought a lot of herbs. It had a fantastic setting, right on the clifftop. The views were amazing - and so was the shop. In particular, I remember fascinating bags of dip mix and a great taster bar.
Halzephron Herb Farm now has three shops, one on the Lizard, one in St Ives and one in central Truro. While St Ives and Truro are just shops, the shop on the Lizard is in a rural setting, the shop is on the Roskilly's Farm site where there's a free car park and some great farm walks too. The farm is a fully-working farm, producing high quality milk that makes Roskilly's fudge and ice-cream, which can also be bought on site.
Halzephron Herb Farm shops sell individually packaged herbs, as well as gift hampers, recipe books, chutneys, sauces, cooking sauces, curry sauces, dip mixes (I love these!), herb dressings, honey, marinades and stir fries, mayonnaise. preserves, edible seeds and a deli counter.
In addition to foods, there's a whole product range of soaps, bath and shower gels and wheat bags - again, all organic products. The wheat bags are filled with locally-grown Cornish wheat and Halzephron's home-grown and dried herbs.
All Halzephron Herbs are organically grown in Cornwall.
The gift packs and hampers available range from a Party Pack of dip mixes, through to deluxe food hampers presented in a wicker basket and sealed with cello film and a ribbon.
Bodmin Nursery have an indoor herbs section, with over 200 herbs, sold in pots. This is not a herb garden you can walk round.
Bodmin Nursery is open Monday to Saturday 9am - 5pm and Sundays 10am - 4pm. The on-site cafe is open every day from 10am to 4pm.
St Kitts Herbery: SHOP ONLY
St Kitt's Herbery is a modern, chic, retailer of herbal products. A qualified herbalist makes all of their products on the premises. They currently stock over 300 products, including:
- Medicinal Preparations
- Creams and Ointments
- Herb Incense

- Essential Oils
Everything's beautifully packaged and wrapped. There are also some great herb chocolate selection boxes, an ideal gift starting at just £4.45. They also have smaller, individual bars of chocolate available from just £2.45.
Where possible, St Kitt's Herbery use as much recyclable packaging as possible. None of their packaging or wrappings are made from food crops. Toiletries do contain some additives to give them a longer shelf-life, but they keep this to a minimum.
All products are made by hand, meaning less carbon emissions.
No animal products are used in the production of any of the St Kitt's Herbery products, neither do they buy any ingredients from companies that test on animals. There are no colourings in the products either.
Everything is suitable for vegetarians - and most products are suitable for vegans.
Not a Farm to Visit:
There is no actual herb farm at St Kitt's that you can look round, but it's a fabulous herb experience if you're nearby. They do grow their own herbs locally, where possible, it's just not open to the public.
The Wilderland Herb Farm: CLOSED
Wilderland was a small, private herb farm, with scented gardens and coffee/cake shop, where you were free to wander round and see all the well-labelled herbs showing their common name and the information you need about soil type and the environment they need.
Unfortunately Chris and Mary, who started Wilderland, have now closed their doors.
Wilderland sold potted herb plants for you to grow yourself.
In the same location as Wilderland Herb Farm they also ran Vegetable Plants Direct
They were a fairly new company, set up in about 2005 - this herb farm was also featured on the TV programme "Life Begins Again", which plotted their struggle to build the business.
The farm was put up for sale in 2013 after it was repossessed.
Gardens to walk around. There is a charge.
