I spent several years traveling and working before having my little guy. Now I'd like to share some of these beautiful spots with you!

Different Ways to Travel

There are so many different ways you can experience the world through travel. I cannot tell you enough how much of an impact traveling and living in some of the most beautiful places has changed my life. Now that I am a mother of a 6-month-old baby, my traveling has been put on pause. But recently I have been thinking about the years I spent wandering around from state to state. I decided to compile a list of six different ways you can travel, depending on your situation, so let's get to it!

Wanderlust: (n.) A strong desire or urge to wander or travel and explore the world.

Who doesn't love a vacation? This might be the most common way of traveling for people and probably the quickest. If you're looking to travel without making any long-term changes to your life, a vacation is perfect. See some cool spots and get your relaxation on.

1) Cruises

If you're looking to hit up a few different places a cruise is a perfect vacation for you. There are so many different cruise lines and destination spots- so the possibilities are endless. Not to mention there are different lengths of cruises. You could go on a short 5 day cruise or maybe take some time for a 2 week cruise. There's also the fact that you won't have to check in from hotel to hotel or worry about how you will get from place to place. Cruises give you the ability to travel without having to worry about the transportation. The most transportation you will have to worry about is getting from the port to where you want to explore.

Cruise ships can also be pretty fun as well! When booking your trip you can book a drink package while you're aboard so that you can relax with a margarita or 5 and take it the 360 ocean views. Cruises also offer excursions for the different destinations you will be stopping at.

2) All-Inclusive Trips

All-inclusive vacations are perfect for the traveler who wants to visit a nice, relaxing spot but maybe also book an excursion or two. Don't forget that this way of vacationing is super easy because almost everything is included. Some all-inclusive packages even include your airfare! The normal all-inclusive usually consists of food, drink, and hotel costs. If you're looking to soak up the sun with a Mai Tai on a tropical beach, then this is the perfect fit.

Work Travel

Maybe you're looking to travel while still making an income or having expenses covered. There are a couple different ways you can get to work and still accomplish your traveling goals.

3) Seasonal Work

There are plenty of seasonal places that are huge tourist destinations. Many resorts, restaurants, shops, and more hire seasonal help for the summer. This is a perfect way to travel if you're home from college for the summer. Or maybe even if you are retired but still want to be put to work. There are tons of places and companies that hire seasonal help, anywhere from 4 to 6 months. Most places also usually include some form of housing and dining plans.

This type of travel really gives you the opportunity to make lifelong friendships and learn about yourself in ways you'd never expect. Not to mention you can be living in some of the most beautiful places- Bar Harbor, ME; Lake George, NY and Naples, FL just to name a few.

4) Mission Work

Mission work trips are a great way to help communities in need and still be able to travel. You can find mission trips in the US or even Globally! Most mission trips are volunteer-based but include some form of housing and dining. This allows you the ability to help people from different cultures and countries while having minimal expenses. You might even consider adding on a few days to your trip after your mission statement is complete to explore the area around you.

You can find some great mission trips through Habitat for Humanity!

International Traveling

Maybe you've seen a good amount of the US and want to look into traveling internationally. There are a couple different forms of traveling that you can do depending on where you are at in life.

5) Study Abroad

These programs are great for college students looking to learn about a new culture while still earning credits toward their degree. I know a few people who studied abroad while in college and say that it is the best choice they ever made! Many study abroad programs are located in Europe but you can also find some that go to Australia or even Asia. Talk with your college advisor and get some information on where you can possibly study abroad.

6) Backpacking

Maybe you've graduated college and are looking to take a break before clocking in at a 9 to 5 job. Backpacking through a country or even continent is a great way to experience the culture and the people. You can choose to backpack for a couple weeks or even a couple months depending on how much you've saved. The US dollar can go pretty far in many other countries and you can be sure to leave with several experiences.

But please note that while backpacking is a great way to travel, there are scams to be aware of. Be sure to look up common scams in the country you will be traveling through to ensure your safety and your money.
