An Honest Review of the Vdara Hotel and Spa in Las Vegas
Can I Afford the Vdara?
Recently I had the pleasure of staying at Vdara Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas. I wanted to share my experience with other people who may be considering staying there in the future.
I know what you're thinking: The Vdara looks too upscale for me—can I afford it? Is it too far from the Strip? What is the deal with the robot butlers? Let me tell you all about my experience at the Vdara so you can determine if it is the place for you.
The Vdara Is a Place to Relax
If you want to go to Vegas to get rowdy with all your friends, this might not be the spot for you. However, if you want to go to Vegas to actually relax, it is excellent. It has a relaxing pool, it's super quiet, it has a nice spa in the building, and there is no casino. Also, each room is a suite, so you don't have to specifically ask for one.
I know what you are thinking. There is no casino in Vdara? That's right! And you know what? We didn't miss it one bit. The hotel is basically attached to Aria, which does have a casino. Vdara also has a walkway into the Bellagio, which has a casino as well. Do you like Cosmopolitan? It's basically right beside it, and it's easy to get to from Vdara. In my opinion, Cosmopolitan has the best casino in Vegas. So you have easy access to three major casinos. You won't miss it at all.
Since Vdara does not have a casino, that helps keep down a lot of the chaos and noise that you might hear at other Las Vegas resorts. You really can't hear much outside noise, either. The place is practically soundproof. I couldn't even hear other guests at the hotel unless they were in the hallway outside our door. It's perfect for getting a good night's sleep.
One of my favorite things about Vdara is it is smoke-free. If you've been to Vegas before, you know many of the casinos are filled with smoke. Some of the older hotels smell like smoke, even if you request a smoke-free room. This is not the case with Vdara. It's wonderful to walk around the entire location and not smell cigarette smoke.
If relaxation is your goal, Vdara is the perfect spot to be slightly off the Strip but close to all the action.
It's a Suite Deal
Every single room at Vdara is a suite, and it's amazing! Usually, you have to specifically ask for a suite or pay extra for one, but not here. You can, however, specifically ask for a room with a view, which we did. We had a beautiful view of the fountains at Bellagio and the Strip.
Each room comes with some type of kitchen. Even our basic room came with a refrigerator, microwave, and stovetop. If you want to borrow pots or pans, you simply call, and it is brought to your room. I personally do not want to go on vacation and worry about cooking and cleaning, but if you have food allergies, this might be just perfect for you. Cooking your own meals is easy here.
The bathroom is very pretty as well. There is a large soaking tub and a separate shower. It feels very luxurious. If I had one complaint about the hotel, though, it would be a lack of washcloths and towels. We had to ask for extra because they only gave two fresh bath towels and two fresh washcloths each day. If you are going to the pool and walking around a lot in the heat, it's likely a couple will need double that amount. Other than that, it was everything we expected.
Did I Mention the Robot Butlers?
You want to know something that really makes Vdara stand out? They have robot butlers that will wait on you. Yes! You can order room service from a tablet in your room and one of their robots will bring it to you. Keep in mind that this is mostly intended for small snacks, drinks, and other small items, but come on! A robot will bring you some coffee! It doesn't get much better than that.
The robots' names are Jett and Fetch. They are super cute and more than happy to deliver to your room. We found if you happen to need medicine, they are perfect because they will bring cough drops, ibuprofen, etc. This is great if you happen to catch a cold while staying there (I am speaking from experience on this one), but I can imagine if you party too hard in Vegas, medicine coming straight to your door is perfect.
The Pool at Vdara
OK, let's talk about the pool. I always pay a lot of attention to the pool area anywhere I go. Vdara has a lovely pool area. It is pretty laid back with a large pool and a Jacuzzi/whirlpool area. There are a good amount of chairs and seating, so that is no issue either.
The pool does have cabana options that are reasonably priced when compared to other locations in Vegas. They also bring you fresh fruit if you are paying for upgraded seating. However, there's plenty of free seating at the pool. There are also servers that can bring you food and drinks no matter where you are seated.
The entire vibe at this pool is a relaxing one. There are no giant floats. The music is subtle. Although there were some families staying here, we didn't find there were too many children running about at the pool. It's a nice place to chill out after you've been running around all over Vegas.
The Price for Vdara Is Reasonable
I know what you must be thinking, "Wow, Vdara has to be expensive!" Wrong! Sure, it isn't as cheap as staying at the Travelodge or something, but it is far from being the priciest hotel in Vegas. It's actually quite reasonable. If you want to experience Cosmopolitan, but you can't quite afford to stay there, Vdara is a good option for you. You can stay at Vdara and visit Cosmopolitan easily.
So you may be wondering why Vdara is cheaper than many of the nicer resorts in Vegas. First, it is not technically on the Strip, although it is extremely close and you can see the Strip from many of the rooms. Trust me, when you cut through one of the nearby hotels, it still feels like you are on the Strip, so that is no issue. Second, Vdara does not have all the extras like some other Vegas hotels. As previously discussed, there is no casino. Also, there are no major shops, and the dining options are limited. All of this cuts down on costs.
Since Vdara is missing some of what the higher-priced hotels offer, it doesn't cost as much. Here is what I learned—I didn't miss it! The casinos are close by. There is a Starbucks and a small bar and restaurant. That's really all you need. If you want more options, there are plenty in the surrounding areas.
The Bottom Line on Staying at Vdara
After staying at several places in Las Vegas, I would say without hesitation that staying at Vdara was the most pleasant experience. I've found some of the bigger casinos and hotels to be overwhelming. They are fun to visit for shopping and dining, but if I get lost trying to find my way from the casino to the door, it can be a bit much.
Vdara definitely has a more relaxed feel to it than most of the other resorts in Las Vegas. If you are looking for a peaceful, clean, and reasonably priced place to stay in Vegas, I would highly recommend Vdara.
